damn that global warming!

so it's pretty cold out there this morning - so cold that as i was driving along i thought 'dude, it feels like it's freezing out here!' and then i passed a bank with the requisite bank sign touting the temperature - 32F. 'well no wonder it feels like it's freezing - it really is!' oi. stepping out the door this morning led to instant jaw aches. and people wonder why i hibernate in winter.
i other news, i've been dreaming of voltron movies this weekend. sad to say that even though in my dreams, they really screwed up the movie, the script review i read this weekend doesn't actually look much better. as the reviewer said, as a standalone sf movie, it's ok; as a voltron movie, it needs mucho helpo. otoh, reading the review made me wonder if i could fusionfic mag7 and voltron (the lion version, i hate the other one).
so, dude, i'm obviously crazy about mag7. in the past few months, i've come up with fusionfic ideas of mag7x:
voltron
pern
wen spencer's ukiah oregon stuff
patricia brigg's were-wolf world.
the only one i have anything resembling a plot for is the ukiah oregon stuff. and it's not one i'm sure would work. but if anyone is getting plot-bunnies spawned off my crackitude, have at, i'd like to see it.
i'm still thinking that it would be fun to fusionfic Richard Marcinko's Red Cell stuff with Crewel World, a mystery featuring a middle-aged sleuth who owns a needlework shop. i even have reasonable ideas for this one.
that is all, in the life of the dancing mare.

Date: 2008-01-21 04:37 pm (UTC)there is a Pern/M7 cross by Judy Seils here: 7 Dragons
I am not so sure about the other ones, but if you hadn't found it yet - here are a couple of sites that could help you search. One actually has a fair amount of links, the other just lets you know the stuff is out there and you have to try and find it on your own.
The find it on your own for the most part site. and the one with the links.
Hope this helps you some.

Date: 2008-01-21 10:29 pm (UTC)the first site has links to fic if you look, and that page is under construction - it looks like she's still working on it.
Lady Angel's site hasn't been updated in a while. ::mumbles something about RL being no excuse::

Date: 2008-01-22 01:55 am (UTC)Someday, I will have finished the Mag Seven/TS crossover for Nell, who wanted it for Moonridge. I'm at 15,500 words on it and it's got a long way to go before it's finished.

Date: 2008-01-22 12:12 pm (UTC)in a regular crossover, you have the rules of both worlds interacting, and you need to explain inconsistencies between one or the other. Law & Order crossed with NCIS might have no inconsistencies to explain, while crossing Charmed and Harry Potter might have a lot. one thing people loved about the Sentinel in it's heydey was that it could be crossed with just about everything with minimal worry about inconsistencies. heck, i still love that.
with a fusion fic, you either put the characters from one universe into another universe, like putting the Mag7 as dragonriders of pern, or rewrite a storyline using characters from a different universe. if you've ever read Crewel World, it's really kind of a 'girly' mystery. i like it because of the needlearts connection. otoh, the Richard Marcinko stuff is machoismo to the core - i like it to laugh at, and because it reminds me of stefanie plum stuff with a hefty dose of testosterone. so the RMxCW one would be taking the CW plotline, and rewriting it with RM as the hero of the piece - which i can see as all kinds of funny, because 'SEAL' and 'needlepoint' don't go together in most people's minds. plus, in CW, there's a canonically gay character (Godwin) who is really quite flaming queer - swishy and everything. RM isn't a bad-looking bloke.... i have evil thoughts of Godwin chasing RM around the store, then having to have RM play the gay guy at some point for plot reasons. these thoughts makes me giggle incessantly. :-D
they would also fulfill a promise i made to mzmadmike to slash RM, just so he could send the file to the real-life RM* and see what reaction he'd get. mmike's got a great sense of humor. ::grins::

*Richard Marcinko is a real person, but i doubt the real guy is nearly the mysogynistic asshole the Richard Marcinko in the books is. the book-RM is the only 'hero' character i've ever come across that made me root for the bad guys to kill him. best part of *every* RM book for me is where he gets the crap beat out of him the first time. yes, they *are* that formulaic...
P.S.
Date: 2008-01-22 12:13 pm (UTC)M7/TS crossovers are favorites of mine.
