it's official, my crockpot has a crack in it, going all the way thru the stoneware bottom.

my crackpot theory on this is that it's gone through a few too many thermal cycles.

but the end result is suckage, because when i 'cook', it's usually crockpot fair.  i haven't decided if i want to see if i can just replace the stoneware pot, or buy a new pot.  what i really want is to be able to fix the cracked pot magically, so i don't spend any money... but i don't think that's going to happen.

Buying a new pot turns out to be cheaper. You don't have to pay for shipping.

Yet replacing the ceramic crock consumes fewer resources. That's the kind of society we live in; the most wasteful option is the cheaper option.

Yep, you got it right. It will not, alas, magically fix itself or be fixed by magic.
Ah well...if its time to replace or repair its time. Not much you can do about it
