is it fall already?!
Oct. 2nd, 2019 07:42 pmaccording to the calendar it is! and that's... hard to believe. I have, however, decided on a theme for this year's Mag7 prompt fest - zombies.... which may be a repeat, but i hope not.
in other news, i've moved out of my old computer and upgraded to a tablet... which has a smaller screen, but more capability. unfortunately, i've somehow lost 1 important file in the transfer.... and 2 others seemed to have disappeared due to random M$ windows f*ckery.
the file that got lost can be rebuilt. the other 2 files are Heaven and Earth Design patterns, which I got so darned long ago i doubt they even have records back that far. So I'm going to re-buy them.... and 2 more for shopping therapy. :) the one pattern i was planning on starting this fall - i wanted to tackle my first HAED, so. But looking at my schedule, I may have to delay that; i hope not, but...
i've also got bifocals this year. i'm actually excited because i'll be able to see to thread the needle again without *removing* my glasses - which i then have to put back on to read the pattern, lol.
I'm trying to more actively tackle household things and etc... the list does not seem to end, but hopefully, soon... there'll be a break-point where i can just chill and stitch for a while.
i finally found the key to autumn garden this year! it's 'dig out the top half of the container, refill with fresh dirt and potting mix, and miracle-grow the heck outta that sh*t', lol. but I've got 4 varieties of squash - butternut, buttercup, acorn, and seminole - growing, and beets growing. only one small carrot though. I'm interested how this will play out.
that's all for now.
don't be a boog(i)er, and back up your files appropriately...

Date: 2019-10-04 12:14 am (UTC)as for writing, i've got a keyboard adjunct - so i use that as my primary input. i'm still trying to find time to organize all the old files and whatnot that i transferred to the PC. i need a good few days where i have time to do it.
i actually bought a MS Surface Edge, and have Win10 Pro on it. Of course the first thing i did was... delete all the bloatware! If you are planning to upgrade to a new Ipad, i'd say for sure stick to the Ipad thing, and don't switch to windows. one of the things Ipad and Android OSs have that is much better than Windows machines is the App Store from google. mostly by better, i mean, more variety, etc.
OTOH, i forgot the XBOX/ kinnect-X systems were windows based/ compatible. i love this because one of the things i could potentially do is play workout games and feed the input thru the tv... this could allow for some cool things.
the best thing about my new mobile pc is that it's just that, mobile. much lighter and more mobile than my old laptop. but i'm planning to split my computer activities between my desktop and this machine. this machine will be mostly used for web-based applications and audiobooks. the desktop pc will be used for storing databases/ property catalogs, and to help me do long-term maintenance planning. The theory is that i get to the point where i'm running a report once a month for maintenance chores, and which books i want to look for at the bookstore, and probably which threads i want to buy to keep my supplies collection. because i'm addicted to books and embroidery.
of course, theory rarely works out in practice, lol.
