finally found the borax!
that's right, borax, which is sort of like baking soda, vinegar, and bleach - one of those things that's been around forever, the active ingredient in a hell of a lot of stuff, and rather ecologically sound. Lowe's didn't have it, Target didn't have it, and I almost gave up at Wal-mart.... amazing how different the box looks when they change the packaging.
so with the wal-mart run tonight, i've got the stuff to mop the cement floor, which i will do after a quick vaccuum over the crack in the slab. then, it's fill the crack with joint compound, do the ceiling while that dries (it'll take a day), touch-up paint the walls, and then paint the floor with a cement-sealer. *then* i can go buy carpet. which will be laid down properly, thank you. ;)
in fannish news, i'm progressing well on my mag7 doggies stitching. i'm on Buck, the german shepherd dog. i'm having a bit of a debate with myself, and would appreciate the commentary of my fellow fans - Buck doesn't seem to have a 'signature' bandana like Vin does. in the pilot, he wears a pink one, in One Day Out West, he wears a dark blue one, and in the Collector (which I'm watching as I write this, hah - and Vin is wearing a *brown* bandana!), he's wearing a dark red/ maroon bandana. the cross-stitch key has the Buck-dog's bandana as dark grey/black (because of the tones used in the piece, it actually 'reads' black).
i'm planning to change the bandana's color, but i'm not sure what color i should pick. anyone have any suggestions?
also, if anyone knows more about pic-manipulation and can zero in on the bandana in this picture, it'd probably help people to see exactly what i'm talking about.
finished pattern:

i've been modding this pattern as i go along to make it more evocative of our favorite tv show. compare the first dog, who reminds me of Chris, with my rendition:

if you can't tell, the little scruff-meister there reminds me of Vin. :) you should be able to click on that pic and get a bigger version.
thanks for the help!

Buck's bandanna in Safecracker has so many flowers on it, I guess it just registers as purple without the detail? Or is it pink? I'll have to go look at it to be sure. We're up to Safecracker on the rewatch so I'll be seeing it soon.
