(with apologies to WE Henley, and Invictus)

Out of the rain that stifles me,
Deep as the seas from pole to pole,
I fear the octopedal Ghods may be
       After my mischievous soul.

In the fell clutch of tentacles,
I have been squeezed until I broke.
Under the nipping of their beaks
My head is a bloody, open yolk.

Beyond this place of water wide
Looms but the Shadow of the Land.
And ah! - the swirling of the tide
Finds me near the Kentucky strand!

It matters not how crazed the gleam,
       How loud the thunder rolls,
I steer my Yellow Submarine
That keeps me dry and droll.

i wasn't feeling bad when i posted this, it was just that the weather was a little wet at the time. and by 'a little wet', i mean 'coming down in sheets so hard you can't see the hand in front of your face'.

and also, it's my first attempt at filk, i chose the octopi/ Cthulu refs to impress on the audience just how wet it was, but i admit it may have a darker tone than intended. but since it's a first try, i'm giving myself a free pass...
