the war is over, boo

well, i am home from the glorious Gulf Wars. i'm ok with that, other than the fact that i have a ton of laundry to do. i knew i reached that point last evening when i realized i really didn't want to smell port-a-john one more minute.
i got home safe around 2.30pm, and crashed for an hour and a half. been unpacking and starting laundry, and i just unearthed the lappy a few minutes ago to say that i got home ok. i love war. and i love coming home from war... :-p
i did not get the gloriously hideous lamee gwazhee coat done - the peacock skirt had too many pieces to cut out, apply bias tape to, and sew. darnit. but i got some real good compliments on it, although the assessment was it would make a great mardi gras costume. and i'm... ok with that. that kind of sense of humor is just what i was going for. one person thought the jacket looked like stripper-ware... really? even with the low-cut front, it wasn't that revealing.... *rolls eyes*
i bought gifts for Cymru (wool), my nephews (a toy trebuchet, sure to give my brother fits), Badger and Jager (more jewelry, guys, but it's pretty!), and for myself, snoods (heavy-weight hairnets made with, afaik, embroidery-weight or perl cotton thread), a new pair of trews, a new short-waisted shirt, and a new jingle belt. i wasn't actually going to buy any of that other than the snoods, but i didn't want to wear any kind of dress for saturday, and i ran out of tunics.
i also managed to completely fail at taking pictures. i bought a new camera and the batteries for it, but i didn't catch on to the fact that i needed to buy an SD chip for it, so no pics... oops.
-boogieshoes, glad to be home
