a completely unscientific experiment...

well, i got curious last night, and did a rather completely unscientific experiment: i decided to see how much my Basal Metabolism Rate affected me, and how much my pee weighs. yeah... i'm a little geeky, short and stout, heh.
anyway, i go to the bathroom a couple times a night so i decided to weigh myself before and after each trip to the water closet.
i started with the before-sleep trip: 266.8 going in... 267.6 coming out. riiiight, hee. i was laughing at myself then, because i know it doesn't work that way - figured i just stepped on the scale wrong the first time.
but at the 2am 'am i awake or dreaming?' trip, i decided to do it again, just to see:
267.2 going in, 266.4 coming out
and again at the 5.45am 'oh god it's early!' trip:
265.5 going in, 264.2 coming out.
so i lost maybe 3 lbs during the night, and 2.1 of those was water weight, which meant .9lbs was due to the BMR. hmmm.
and then i took off the t-shirt and pj bottoms i was wearing: 262.2 lbs. i'm always surprised at how much clothes weigh - they never *feel* that heavy!
the next step is to weigh myself this evening before and after everything i put in my mouth and every time i go to the bathroom. i expect to gain weight through-out the day, since i graze-eat at work, and sit on my butt mostly. i'm not sure how the evening will look, given that i usually eat my major meal about 6ish, but it should be interesting. probably, i'll repeat the experiment over the next week or so, or until i get tired of it, to get an idea of my weight fluctuations throughout the day, and over various days.
this is what happens when you've got an engineer trying to lose weight - now the trick is, not to get obsessed!

ETA: i weighed myself after i got home (which drive included a stop at the local Bed Bath and Beyond to pick up some extra blankets, since work is frickin' freazin!), i gained a grand total of 4/10 of a lb, which caused me to giggle a lot.
