weekend round-up

this week-end was kind of un-intentionally lazy, because i was fairly exhausted from work last week. we had a major push on a company-wide project and we're all kind of going 'gah!'

so, this weekend, i:

* stained and varnished the bed-box things, which i'm doing to raise my bed for storage underneath.
* primed the last 3 plastic planters i got - i'll be painting them this week
* sent strega42 a crochet book
* made shepherd's pie, which is awesomely good
* called mom for mother's day
* successfully avoided cleaning the toilets, once again...

i was thinking about doing some creative writing or meta this weekend, but frankly, between allergies and brain burn, i just wasn't up to it.

in conclusion, i shall leave you with the lyrics to Don't Fear the Reaper, by Blue Oyster Cult.  i heard this song again this morning, and remembered how much i loved it. :-D

All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain..we can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday...We can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared...saying don't be afraid
Come on baby...and she had no fear
And she ran to him...then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodby...she had become like they are
She had taken his hand...she had become like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper

I've had that song in my head, too, because of watching a lot of Supernatural which has gotten me into a classic rock mood.

Go you for the projects.

i don't think i actually heard this song until i was an adult - i was into pop rock as a kid. but i love this kind of minor-melody stuff these days. death, dying, emo... i'm all about it. throw in lots of gore for a war-song, and i'm happy, heh. yeah, i'm weird.

since i live alone, projects are the way i fill up my life and keep from hiding on the couch. not that i don't have indoor rainy-day projects like fanfic and stitching, but both of those require my eyes to be in decent working order, and this weekend just wasn't it.

*hugs!*

mmm, shepherd's pie

Love that song, it's one of my fave ringtones. Although the one I'm using right now is Bob Marley's Three Little Birds. Talk about night and day.

Hmm. Maybe not. Now that I think about it Three Little Birds is the song I want at my funeral, lol.

Hope your eye feels better!

i marinaded elk meat and johnsonville brauts in guiness instead of using the hamburger - so very, very good. *mmmms*

anyway, the eye thing is allergies, which is sort of annoying. as long as the trees are having sex my eyes kind of throb, which can make it difficult to concentrate on stitching or writing. oi! but i'm feeling ok, 'cept for the eye-throbby. i got an awful lot of sleep this weekend, which helped a lot.
