This made my heart flail around wildly. I was touched by not just the idea that Vin would be watching their descendants through visions (and my heart clenched every time he thought of 'his Chris,' aww!) but that modern Chris would trust him so instantly, without question, and this:
Lawmen in this life, too, and the pride he felt in his friends nearly broke his heart.
I guess the love it would take in order for Vin to have that sort of pride in his friends is what comes through so strongly in that one sentence. And I'm such a sucker for a strong visual. The mental picture of Chris and Buck in modern uniforms set next to Vin in his leather and beads and feathers and paint on his chin is such a devastatingly beautiful picture. I'm probably going to be stuck with that now.
FWIW I agree it would make a wonderful BB fic. I saw the sign ups on Daybook and my stomach flopped hard, because I know I want to do it. I just... already have things that I'd like to finish and I don't need to add more to my plate so I'm wondering whether it would be smart to talk myself out of it. You could sign up and I could poke the heck out of you (god knows I'm a good cheerleader; if I have any talent at all it's being able to cheerlead) to get it done, or you could keep it as something to work on as you have time. Lots and lots of possibilities here, hon.
