$$ spends so easily, part deux

well, looking over my finances, the prices for the furniture i *want*, and how much $$ it's taking me to get organized (because i'm starting with *nothing*) - i've decided not to get a bedroom set. damn. i still need some kind of wardrobe or chest of drawers for winter clothes and such, but i'm going to try to slow down my spending pretty soon. if i'm going to save at all for a house by december, i have to get going. but it sucks, not having furniture. or curtains.

Heck, I spent the first 5 years of my adult life, post university, decorating my pads in early 'Ammo Crate'. For example, 2 60mm HE mortar crates (wooden) nicely support a pair of 2"x14"'s scrounged from a construction site. Cover the whole shebang with a camo poncho and voila, coffee table! Poncho liners are quilted and make great spreads and throws for the cast off couches you can find behind rich peoples' houses. I used paraflare canopies for lampshades since they are fire retardant and highly reflective. I used a full size paracanopy to hang over my rack, which was a queen size, supported on ammo cans filled with lead dive weights (for stability). It wasn't until I married that I began *buying* furniture. Ick.
