wot i did this weekend
well, happy late 4th - and Canada Day. i went to a friend's house this weekend in NOLA. great time there, ate too much, and too many carbs, but i got to play D&D, which i haven't done in *years*, Guitar Hero, which is a favorite of mine, and we saw a couple of movies. first up: TF3 - actually a reasonable plotline, although Gellis (my friend) thinks the movies are over for now, since they killed off all the Decepticon upper echelons. i'm not so sure, since it seemed like there were a lot of Decepticons left after the final movie battle. we'll see. one thing is sure, you don't really need a plot when you've got 40ft tall robots. they're nice to have, but frankly, you go see things like TF3 for the robots and special f/x. which were awesome.
next was Green Lantern, which i didn't really care about, i just wanted to hang out with my peeps. it was reasonably good, although i didn't know the comic books. the best part was seeing the main hero in nothing but undies. that scene opens with a close up of his face - so close, we can see his pores. yeah, yeah, we get it. i had to make a snarky comment, so i was all, "we don't really need to see - ooooo!" the 'ooooo' was when they pulled back to show his whole body, with only a pair of tighty whities on. yeah, we know where my brain was - Gida, Gellis' wife - was laughing at me, but that's ok. :)
one thing that my fellow mag7 fans will want to know is that i have my previous computer back, the one with the files on it i'd like to get back. Gellis thinks i probably just need a new cord/adapter, which i've bought, but i haven't tried it out yet, so i'm not sure that's what the whole answer is. it's definitely *part* of the answer - the old cord was looking downright dangerous. on the docket this weekend is to try out the new cord and see if i can get the comp to work, in which case i'll be good to go, and then can work on the *black* laptop, getting the files off of *it*!. the black laptop is a 2000 rebuild of a '95 case. old stuff, there.
if i still have issues with the just-prior laptop, i'll be sending it to a friend of mine who lives in atlanta, who is also good with computer stuff, and who should be able to figure things out quickly. if that's the case, i'll make a new file of the Mag7 x BTVS story i've been working on, and work on it from that one while i wait for S to finish with the lappy. so there's that.
in a fit of insanity, i've decided to make gifts for the outgoing and in-coming Axemoor Baronet. i already have most of what i need, and need to finish shopping for items tonight online. this is in addition to the 3 more baby bibs i've got to make this year. possibly, i'm an idiot. actually, scratch that. *DEFINITELY*, i'm an idiot. go me, hah.
finally, a bit of TMI re girly bits - skip if you don't want to read it.
i promised myself to make an obgyn appointment after i saw the doc last time. it's been *years*, and i hate 'em, hate 'em, hate 'em with the firey passion of a thousand suns. i'd rather get heart surgery while i was awake. but i promised myself, and today i did it. i am now wanting to go home and lock all the doors and curl up in bed and just rockrockrock, scared to death. it's in two weeks. i'm taking the new 'teddy bear', which is more like a pillow puppy and doesn't have a name yet. he keeps getting kicked off the bed, poor thing. but i think i'll call him 'Chris Larabee', and hope that hugging the stuffing out of him will keep the bad dreams away. :(
i hate obgyn appts.
