blinded by the paint...
Sep. 30th, 2012 05:59 pmpainting is still fun, but it's taking a lot longer than i thought it would. it would help if i had more than one set of hands, and also if i could last more than 3 hours after work. on the other hand, i've gotten quite a lot done. considering i eventually want to paint *all* the rooms in the house, even the closets, bathrooms, and hallways, what i do have done is the following:
the master bedroom stone walls - base coat.
the master bedroom blue accent wall - a mural is going over this wall, and the 'painting' will be continued over the door. but i need to take the door off the hinges and sand the bottom down a bit before i do this. it's just a bit too flush with the carpet.
the 1st guest bedroom sandstone walls - has 2 coats of the base, but i think it will need a 3rd, and another cut-in go-round. but i ran out of the base color, so i need to get another can of it.
the 1st hallway has the first coat of yellow up. i'm not opening the yellow again until i start doing the cielings, because it's the same coat. everything that's yellow, except the closets, will get a metallic treatment.
the foyer/living room/ bottom half of the kitchen - emerald green base is all done. i'm going to do a lot of stenciling in this area, with a matching gold or yellow color to the cieling.
the upper half of the kitchen and the 4th bedroom have half a coat of light blue up. i ran out of paint before i finished this.
the front lawn is 3/4 mown. that i stopped because it started raining, and has been raining all the rest of the weekend. and also, i'm the worst lawn-mower ever. but that riding mower is too much fun. :)
still to do: finish base coats of upper half of kitchen/ 4th bed.
base coats in laundry room / 3rd bed.
stencils in living room/ foyer/ bottom half of kitchen.
lodge stencils in upper half of kitchen.
rococo stencils in laundry/ 3rd bedroom.
do the stone effect for the master bed.
3rd coat of the base color, another round of cut-in work in the base color, stone effect for the guest bedroom.
all the cielings.
all the trim in a wood/mahogany/ brown color.
eventually, i'm going to also do:
all the closets in gold/ yellow (not a metallic effect, but that particular yellow), with all the shelves in the same color as the trim.
the two bathrooms are going to get a marbling effect - both will go with a white marble base, and the guest bath will have orange/ rust/ brown to go with some items i already have. the master bedroom ensuite bath will have blue/ gray/ silver, to go with the master bedroom.
the '3rd half' of the kitchen, the part you actually cook in. right now i want to do it in the same light blue as the 'upper half', paint the cabinet bases white, get new doors, and change the hardware to be a black iron look. but i think it'll take some time, and i forgot the back splash areas, and there's the whole section *above* the cabinets, etc. it's just too much right now, especially considering i'm trying to hurry to get the bedrooms and kitchen done so i can replace the carpets and linoleum.
it's fun... it's just taking a while.
