the good, the bad, and the ugly
Jan. 18th, 2011 09:09 pmthe good: i can haz a fireplace! that isn't out-gassing and looks *boo-ti-ful!* a very nice guy from the maintenance crew came by and put it together for me. we had an interesting conversation while he was working, and he is in the reserves, and is scheduled to head to Afghanistan this year. i gave him my email, and told him to send me his APO addy, and me and my baen's barfly friends would shower him with cookies and books. :)
the bad: my new GP wants to do an insulin resistance test on me. turns out that my blood sugar was ok, but the number that says how my levels have been doing for the past 3 months is kind of high. i sort of expected something like this, and was rather surprised that the usual numbers have been so good, except for my weight. i'm sort of worried - obviously, the GP thinks it's cause for concern - and sort of not: now that i have new!job, i'm not so stressed, or doing the nervous-eating thing, or craving sweets like there's not tomorrow. and also, i'm back to trying to pack in the fruits and veggies. the test is scheduled for Jan 28th; i'll keep y'all posted.
the ugly: while i was driving home tonight, the radio was playing 'hot-blooded', and there's that line that goes 'is my timing all right?' and no shit, the first thing i thought was 'well, have you checked your [timing] belt?' *head-desks*
-bs, the sheepish (but warm!)
