when you're bored at work, you play with other people's money

first, a small ETA on this post, in which i asked for help finding some people:  a kind f-lister gave me a tip on addresses for Michael Beihn and Dale Midkiff, and i found a fan club address for Richard Burgi and an *art gallery* for Micheal T Weiss - wow!.  (it's rather unfortunate that his art is not to my taste, or i'd totally support him.)  Richard Dean Anderson doesn't take snail mail at all - wah!  he does have a fan-site, though, where you can post messages to him.  so i'll have to tear open that letter and post it on the website instead.

now on to the meat of this post, which is to say that a bored engineer is a dangerous engineer.
