If your 401K is through Fidelity (which handles a lot of larger/federal accounts), you can register (and manage) your funds online. If you guys are off in a smaller private sector then you should still be able to contact your old HR for information but, basically, you can go directly to whichever bank houses your 401K online. You just need to prove your identity and you're good to go. :)
