long time no type!  things have been kind of busy on this end, and this is the first chance i've had to breathe for a little bit.

first, i want to thank [livejournal.com profile] slavelabour  for the lovely cookies!  they were delicious *winks*.

second, i wanted to update my flist on the state of boogie - remember those trip-falls i'd taken a couple weeks ago?  well the swelling
in my left foot hadn't gone down, so i finally made an appt with a sports doctor, who x-rayed my left foot and ankle and said it was
strained and torn ligaments - and that tissue damage just takes a while to heal.  he gave me an anti-inflammatory and a muscle relaxant,
and said to come again if things hadn't improved in two weeks.  he also noted that i had a break sometime in the misty past in my left foot -
he could feel it, and feel that it was old old old.  ah well.

so yesterday, following the directions on the bottle, i took a muscle relaxant in the morning.  doc had warned me it might make me sleepy, but i ended up coming home from work after only an hour and zonking out for 6 hours.  *sheepish look*  i forgot that i tend to react more strongly to medications than is 'normal' (whatever normal is).  oops.  this morning i got to work an hour early because, well, 6 extra hours of sleep!

finally, i had a weird adventure dream last night.  my mother was trying to take me and my sister and brother somewhere, and i didn't want to go, or i wanted to go somewhere else.  at any rate, i opened the book i was reading to see these penciled in lines on all the pages, and i asked my brother if he'd drawn in my book.  Mom immediately gets on my case - "Why are you always mad at Kirk? he doesn't do anything to your books!"

"He has before, i just want to know what's up with these lines, see!"  i show mom the book, but she says there isn't anything wrong with it.

so i start pouting and hiding, because i'm angry and don't want to deal with it.  and while i'm hiding, i hear mom talking to some adult who tells her ' you need to be careful with that one.  she understands the language of everything.'  which didn't make any sense.

finally, i decide to run away.  but my name has changed from *my* name to 'Lucedale' - no, i don't know either.  and so does the point of view - i'm not Lucedale anymore, and i'm on the outside looking in at the story.  anyway, 3 other girls appear out of nowhere, agree that Luce is being badly handled and decide to runaway with her.  this is, in part, because Luce is 6 years old, and they think she needs to be protected a bit.  one of the older girls (Girl A) suggests they could go to Coyote, Wyoming (which i don't know if that's a real town).

Lucedale suggests that they go to Four Corners, Wyoming.  Girl A says 'Luce, the Four Corners from the Magnificent 7 books *isn't* the Four Corners of the real world - it's not even in the same place!' Luce, it turns out, is kind of obsessed with the Magnificent 7...

Luce replies, 'But I've put it all together, looked at the maps and everything!  The real Four Corners isn't that far from the modern-day one,
which used to be (something else) which used to be Eagle Bend!'  They changed their name after Four Corners disappeared because they didn't want to be associated with it.'  The other girls look impressed and they decide ok, they might as well go to FC, and see if it's livable, at
least.  that way, they can be independent and not be bothered by other people.  turns out that Lucedale, though only six, is headstrong and
stubborn as well as smart, and is the natural leader.

so they set out on foot, and i'm guessing that somewhere along the way they got a ride or rides to near Coyote, which is about 20mi from the 'real' Four Corners.  in Coyote, they run into some bad guys who systematically beat and rape them.  i'm not sure how they get away, but they stumble into a mechanics shop all beaten and bloody and scared and angry.  the shop is run by a Native American named Vern, who looks like Richard Branscomb.  He's working on a car for Random White Guy (RWG), who's sitting around talking to him when the girls come in.

Vern is trying to calm the girls down so he can help them when Lucedale announces that they are going to Four Corners, and if he has any
intentions of getting in their way or stopping them, she's going to kill him.  and he's like 'oookay.  well how about if i give you guys a lift?'
because they still need help, and he doesn't want to let 4 girls all under the age of 14-15, obviously in need of help, just wander off.

and Luce turns to him and says 'don't worry, Vern, Vin Tanner is a buffalo spirit, too.'  And Vern kind of pales, because she couldn't know that
he's a descendant of Vin Tanner, and that years ago on his spirit quest, he learned on that the magnificent 7 would return when the lion's
flame came to him for help.  (the spirits don't have to make sense, ok?)  so now Vern is like, 'shit, i need to go to Four Corners and make sure everything's ok with these girls!'

So he and RWG take the girls in this old beater ford to four corners, where they find a rather dilapidated, falling-apart wooden town in the middle of encroaching corn fields.  and they get out, and the girls are kind of exploring, and Vern's going around looking for the Ghost of FC, who is, in fact, Chris Larabee.  So of course everyone gets separated.

the girls find a crashed out bus of adolescent girls, possibly from a school trip, and see some biker-type dudes coming in to town.  they're
wearing/ somehow associated with the same guys who raped them.  Luce takes charge, gets the girls off the bus into hiding in the school
basketball court, and makes some plans with her 3 companions, and 3 girls from the bus, one of whom is black.

Vern, meanwhile, is exploring an old barn when he falls through the floor to see an old '60s car with someone in the driver's seat, who appears to be dressed in a black coat and hat.  He calls out to this guy, only to have a voice by his ear say 'As long as they don't find him, we're all safe.'

'Huh?'  he turns around to see Chris Larabee, or rather, to see *through* Chris.  and he realizes the 'guy' in the car is actually Chris's body.

'As long as the body is hidden,' Chris says, 'that man can come back as often as he wants.  they've found most of the other bodies.'

'the other guys can't come back any more?' Vern asks.

Chris-ghost kind of slides over to settle on his body, and dirt starts to fall into the car, covering it up.  As he does so, he says, 'It
only takes one.  as long as i'm here, our bond can't be broken, they'll answer to the call...' and he trails off.

Vern hears a ruckus and goes to check on things, and finds Luce directing the girls from the bus to fight the biker-guys who rolled into town.
he runs to get RWG, and they go join the fight, and on the way, they're joined by the ghost of Vin Tanner riding Peso.  the scene in the town
is chaos.  the girls and the biker guys are going at it, and here and there in the midst of it, Vern can see the ghosts of the Mag7 fighting by,
and protecting, specific girls.

After the fight is over, and the biker guys run away with their tails between their legs, it's time for clean up.  Vern says 'water's over there
to the right.'  And the Vin Tanner ghost says 'other right, Vern.'  and he's got this grin on his face like Vern does this all the time.

Luce looks up and says, 'you completely failed tracking class, didn't you Vern?'

and Vern sheepishly admits he's possibly the worst indian on the planet.

a little while later, the girls from the bus have been taken care of and sent on their way, minus the 3 girls who stayed behind because they were drawn to FC, this includes the black girl from earlier.  turns out all 7 girls are descended from the original mag7 members, and so are Vern and RWG.  it's the magnificent 9, come to ride again...

Luce is Chris Larabee's descendant, and she turns out to be the leader.  the black girl is Nathan's descendant, and i haven't figured out who belongs to who else.  and i'm not sure where the two extra came from, except that maybe Buck was a little busy!

and then i woke up, and couldn't get back to sleep, so i came in to work an hour early.

and that's the state of the boogie, today.
