i'm sure that title has been used by needleworkers before, heh.

one of the side-effects of unemployment that makes me want to go right into retirement right now (damn you, bills!) is the free time.  it can be depressing, but also, now i have all this time to stitch, and finish projects that i've had on hold forever.  and i also have the energy to do so.  i'm thinking i might try little christmas ornaments for everyone this year, because i've almost certainly got everything i need for that.

anyway, a few months ago, i splurged on another floor stand.  about 3 years ago, my boss at this most recent job got married, and i'd promised to stitch him a pair of bath towels.  i got started on one, was predictably too late to get even that to the wedding, and it became sort of a running joke that i might finish the towels in time for his funeral.  a big part of the problem was that i was stitching with metallic threads thru a fully thick and functional bath towel.  this takes more strength than you think.  the other issue was all the weight of the *rest* of the towel - between those two issues, both my wrists were killing me after just a bit of stitching.  so for a long time, i really didn't want to go *back* to it, because i didn't look forward to my wrists hurting.

hence, the floor stand.  i don't remember just why i bought it, but it's been a godsend to finishing A's towel - just the one, so far.  here are the pictures of A's initials:

i think they came out pretty well.  the other towel will have 'S' instead of 'A', for A's wife's name.

so, i'm finally halfway done with A's wedding present!  i'm only 3 years late....
