Thanks for the tip :)

I made a card catalog a long time ago, but i 'lost' it in ensuing laptop moves. I had more stuff than the usual IBSN-title-author-summary, because I wanted to sort by different things. So I also had general category (sci/fi, textbook, poetry, mythology... etc), and I regularly re-order my books into chronological order, so like, in the case of Narnia, I didn't have 'the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe' as the first one, but the one where we first meet Frozen Queen....

I finally got that file recovered, but I'm not sure if I'm just going to stick with that one, or get a version of M$ Access, because I want to be able to run different reports like 'To buy, to replace (because I bought the hardback, but prefer paperbacks instead...), To donate, loaned out to...'

I'll probably post once I've decided on something. And since it's going to wind up being a catalog of things, not just books, and serve as my 'house contents insurance report', then having something ready-made, especially if it's somewhat adaptable, would be nice. :)
