This year, I hope things are better, both in general and for personal health/ house health/ etc.

( i'm gonna make this house my home )
( i will get things to grow, darnit! )
( and i'll have a pretty yard! )
SCA SKILL SETS
( i especially want to improve arch-ing )
( i'm really trying to finish old stuff before starting new stuff. really. )

WISHING THESE WISHES WERE MINE
( alms for the poor? anyone? )
So, a final note here - especially with the fannish things and trying to keep up community journals and things, I think the home PC being set up will help a lot. I've already mentioned the advantages of the pilates up there. :)

and that's all she wrote today. my wrists have been getting pretty sore lately, probably carpal tunnel or arthritis, so the 2017 To-Done is going to have to wait for another day. Probably tomorrow, since I don't want to lose momentum. In Feb, at my normal check-up, I'm going to ask doc about my wrists, though...
I survived 2016, which turned out to be a shitty year for a lot of people. My hope for us all is that 2017 is much better. We need much better in our lives. And I'm not talking politics, I'm talking good jobs, good friends surviving, and good family of choice loving us. So 2017, take my advice: take off your pants, and slide on the ice!
-boogieshoes, wishing everyone a happy new year
Buck/ Chris anything.
Kidfic with Buck or Chris the little ones (but not Buck and Chris both little in the same fic).
Sequal to "Loser Takes All" - what happens the next time someone gets in trouble? ;)
I have a special love for Vin is psychic/ gifted in some fashion stories.
I quite like the Yellowstone AU - gen or slash, more please?
Crack!fic... wing fic.... Crossover fic - i lover "Xander's real parents (Xander from BtVS)"; love the Highlander AU fics; how about some more Sentinel/ Mag7 fics, any time, any place, Sentinels known or not. :-)
All that, and if the Lord and Lady are truly pleased with me - a break in the weather. I'm getting tired of 80% humidity and 95F weather....

ETA1: 22 Mar, first major update
( in which Chris drinks coffee... )
-bs, giggling like an idiot
- Someone to buy me a kit from Herrschner's.They’ve had some great deals lately, and I’m tired of not having the money to take advantage of it. Le sigh.
- Master the Single Brussles Stitch, also known as the detached buttonhole stitch. It seems like it should be fairly easy, and perhaps I’m doing it with the wrong weight thread, but it’s kicking my arse right now. And it plays a major part in my proposed stumpwork piece for my first SCA Arts & Sciences submission. So, you know, I kinda need to figure it out.
- I’m dying for a long, meaty Mag7 ATF:AU (or Skip Trace, although that may not be possible since Charlotte wants to file the serial numbers off, iirc) casefic told from Chris’s point of view, where:
- Buck sees ghosts like they were solid people
- This turns out to be a major plot point/ help in figuring out the case
- Vin seriously starts questioning Buck’s sanity, and pulls some stupid stuff because of it
- JD is afraid of Buck after his gift is revealed
- Somewhere in the fic is the line: ‘The first time Chris caught Buck talking to a ghost, he almost had him medically discharged from the Navy.’ (This can be modified to fit the scenario if necessary)
- Adults or other kids in Buck's childhood were physically abusive, and he has the physical scars to prove it. Buck never discusses them with the others (but Chris knows about them)
- Bonus Points if this is a Chris/Buck fic
- Points squared if they have a safe-sane-consensual D/S relationship
- And cubed if that is also a central plot-point somehow…
- 100 million points if Josiah’s girlfriend is actually a pre-op transgender XY.
- A Gazillion Million Points Raised To The Infinite Power Times Infinity if you can then transfer all these plot-points into a novel-length Dragonriders of Pern fusion-fic, and make it believable.
- Buck sees ghosts like they were solid people
Pretty please? Someone?

-bs, the busy, the greedy, the just darned cool ;-)
the good news, for those keeping track of things i 'need' on my way to starting to write again, is that i bought a desktop/ tower system over the weekend, and i'm nearly done buying cubicles for the office... mostly because there's only so many that will fit in there. the bad news is that i still have a ways to go, yet.
the second part of that was getting the concrete guys in to do their thing. which they did this afternoon in about 30 minutes. so now it's joint compound on the crack of some sort, put a water sealer on the cement, and continue.
'continuing' is: re-glaze the ceiling, paint the last two pieces of trim, touch up the blue paint, yellow in the closet, trim paint, put down carpet padding, and carpet. should not actually take too long, though i'm not sure i'm going to get to it this weekend. my feet and ankles and a lot of my other major joints have been sore, probably because of the cold. this weekend might end in a lot of stitching and couch-surfing, which is a-ok with me.
i ended up taking the mag7 doggies with me to work last week, and i'm using it as my 'work project'. i love this pattern because it stitches up so quickly. i only just started on the Buck-dog, and i can already see the shapes of his legs and chest. i manage to do about 2 9" strands to floss a day, maybe a little more. this wednesday, i went to Micheal's and color matched the kit floss with the DMC selection there. i didn't get a perfect match on every color - not even most colors - probably because i don't think they had all 425 shades or whatever. but i got them close enough that when i run out of thread, i can replace with the new thread i brought and just keep going... 7 more times. (once for me, once for each of the members of the cast. i hope.)
i'm hoping i can finish this thing, and get it mounted in a shadowbox and the box all tricked out and finished too, before the Mag7 Con in August. it would be nice to present my first time through the pattern then. but i'm not even sure i'm going to be able to go to the con - it just depends on the money situation. *sigh*
all in all, though, doing well.
2012 To-Do List
A few comments on 2012 from personal memories:
2012 was dominated by achievement of HOUSE, which is awesome in several ways.
( I plan in layers when it comes to finances, you see... )
-bs, the happy home-owner
So, I had intended to save up enough money to buy a house by the Dec 2011/Jan 2012 time-frame. That ended up being a bit of an aggressive goal. I'm 2/3 of the way there, but I think I'll need another 6mos before I actually buy. There's also some things that rolled over from last year's To-Do list.
( Trying to lighten the load because of predicted Household move... )
-bs, the eternally busy... and excited about a potential house this year!
any &/any, any AU: Buck's ability to shovel the shit was amazing when the situation called for it. It was even better when the situation didn't.
because i'm in the housing market:
any &/ any, any AU: what makes a house a home.
because i'm looking to get a CPAP machine to help with my energy levels:
any &/ any (including OMCs or OFCs), modern AU: It took less time than he thought to get used to the sound of the CPAP machine; the steady swoosh-whish a gentle reassurance that all was well.
comment-fic welcome. :)
*wriggles in impatient anticipation*
and also, i hereby apologize to everyone who's waiting on any updates from me on any stories anywhere - Miss Noellert is outpacing me by a long-shot, and if *i* think waiting for *her* is hard, waiting for *me* must be downright torturous!
sorry for the double post tonight, but i didn't want people to have to go thru the gym stats to get to the dream journal. I woke up this morning covered in sweat, and dude,
( it wasn't even much of an action dream! )
And then I woke up, because my alarm went off, and the sheets were soaked through with sweat.
I'm instituting a new tradition, that I sort of did last year, anyway. Basically, at the beginning of the year, I do a To-Do List that I try to complete that year, and I decided it would be nice to do a Lesson's Learned for that list at the end of each year. This is the first official version of that post, for the 2011 To-Do List.
( 2011 year in review )
and for those of you who don't have a specific holiday or break time at this point - i hope your next upcoming holiday or break is just as special and heart-warming and happy-making for you as our Winter Break/Yule/Christmas period is to us.
so, i don't bring it up a lot, but i'm Wiccan. Wicca is a fertility religion that is focused on the cycle of life/death/rebirth, and the wheel of the year - spring/ summer/ autumn/ winter. our big holiday this time of year is the Winter Solstice, one of the 8 Solar Holy Days we celebrate. Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year, longest night. although Hallowe'en - Samhain - is the official 'End of the Old Year'/ 'Beginning of the New Year' holy day for most of us pagans, i admit to doing most of my 'turn of the year' chores around Christmas time. it feels normal and natural to me, not in the least because it's the way i grew up - making resolutions every year at this time and planning out the next year. of course, the Gregorian Calendar cycles to December 31st, not October 31st, so it also makes it a practical tradition for things like fiscal organization, etc. and also, most businesses in the Western Hemisphere take this time off - hey look, 'spring cleaning' time... and also time to sort through what i have to do to make my own dreams and wishes come true.
all of this to say that in the immediate future, you can expect:
1) lessons learned from last year post
2) To-Do list for next year
i'm also hoping to clean up a few odds and ends this next week - i'm going to be visiting with my parents at the lake house, and i won't be online much, but my two big things are finishing the silly ornaments i wanted to do for everyone, and finishing a bunch of 'fics that i promised myself i'd do.... we'll see, but i'm hoping to at least make some progress on 7th Gift, and finish the slice of life fics that started with the Chris's 'Wednesday Meetings', and a couple more fics in the Highlander AU thing. when i get back, I'd like to see how many pieces i can upload to AO3....
of course, i'm probably over-scheduling myself. :)
